Titanium & Titanium Alloy Forgings
Titanium & titanium forgings refer to any titanium product formed to a desired shape by impact or pressure in hammers, forging machines, upsetter presses, or related forming equipment. Generally, it shall be manufactured to ASTM B381 or ASME SB-381. There are 39 grades of annealed titanium and titanium alloy forgings: Grades F-1, F-2, F-2H, F-3, F-4, F-5, F-6, F-7, F-7H, F-9, F-11, F-12, F-13, F-14, F-15, F-16, F-16H, F-17, F-18, F-19, F-20, F-21, F-23, F-24, F-25, F-26, F-26H, F-27, F-28, F-29, F-30, F-31, F-32, F-33, F-34, F-35, F-36, F-37, F-38.
The chemical composition and mechanical properties shall be in conformance with “Table 2 Chemical Requirements” and “Table 1 Tensile Requirements” of ASTM B381, respectively.
Typical Titanium & Titanium Alloy Forgings
The titanium and titanium alloy can be forged to various shapes or forms covering flanges, fittings, hollow bars, rings, discs, and other special shapes. Each forging shall be ultrasonically inspected throughout 100% of their volume. All surfaces of each titanium forging shall be liquid penetration inspected. Repair welding is prohibited.
