KBR Inc, the world’s leading ammonia technology contractor, announced on 29th Nov, 2017 that it has been awarded an ammonia plant revamp contract by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (RCF). RCF is a state-own fertilizer company in India. The ammonia plant that needs to be revamped is located in Trombay, Maharashtra, India. The revamp of the existing plant will lower energy consumption, reduce capital costs, as well as improve overall plant operations.

Engineering Tips: The highly pure liquefied ammonia is almost non-corrosive and it boiling point is only -33.5°C. Thus, low-temperature carbon steel ASTM A333 Gr.6 can be selected as its piping material. However, it is combined with impurities such as CO₂, the corrosion is considerable and stainless steel shall be chosen.
