Impact Test on ASTM A333 Gr.6 Seamless Pipes
Seamless Pipes of ASTM A333 Gr.6 are widely used in low-temperature service. This HIC resistant steel is commonly employed in coolant piping systems of nuclear power plant(also known as the “secondary piping system of NPP”), sour oil & gas transportation pipeline, and offshore platforms. Impact test is a prescribed mandatory requirement for ASTM A333 Gr.6.
Impact temperature: 45°C[-50°F]; Size & quantity of impact specimens: 10 mm x 10 mm, 3 pieces; impact testing machine: JDAW-450 impact test equipment, maximum range: 450 J.
The specimens of ASTM A333 Gr.6 should be cooled a sufficient time in the test container so that both reach the desired temperature. The temperature shall be measured by thermometers. The specimens shall be quickly transferred from the cooling device to the anvil of the Charpy impact testing machine and broken with a time lapse of not more than 5 seconds. The impact test results for the 3 specimens are read respectively: 296 J, 302 J, 308 J (impact values of energy absorbed).
