ASTM A515, identical with ASME SA-515, is the standard specification for pressure vessel plates, carbon steel, for intermediate- and higher- temperature service in welded boilers and other pressure vessels. The A515/ SA-515 plates can be classified into 3 grades according to its minimum tensile strength: grade 60, grade 65, grade 70. The maximum thickness of plates covered by this standard is 8″ (200 mm).

The standard also includes general requirements and ordering information which are in accordance with ASTM A20/ A20M, materials and manufacture, heat treatment, chemical composition, mechanical properties (tension test), supplementary requirements, and additional supplementary requirements.
